First day of school, etc.

Joe had a great time today at preschool! Steve stayed with him most of the day, but did leave him on his own for an hour or so, and Joe did great. There were no tears, and Joe even asked if he could go back soon! What a relief! I know that there will be probably be harder days, but I am so glad things are off to such a great start.

In other news, Maggie finally fits into her 0-3 month sized Big Butt Baby Pants. Her wardrobe just got a whole lot cuter.

Exciting topics of conversation in our house: Will Maggie's hair keep growing? Does her faux-hawk make her look like Tintin? What color will her eyes be? Could she be any more freaking adorable? Is she ever going to take a nap? Did you see that big smile she just flashed us? Etc.

    1. He's doing so well in school! We're just tickled pink. He's like, "See you later, Dad, I gotta go paint!" *Heart swells with pride.*

  2. I must make these pants. They are so cute! But I have one question. We transitioned from cloth diapers to 7th generation at 7 months. The amount of water to keep them clean at that point (when baby's on solid foods) just doesn't make sense given we are almost always under water restrictions here. Will this pattern work with disposable diapers or is it only meant for cloth ones?

    1. So here's the part where I confess that Maggie is in disposables. I did cloth with Joe, but I got so burned out trying to get them clean in our HE washer, which just doesn't seem to clean anything very well. I haven't ruled out doing it again with Maggie, but I'm, er, still considering our options.

So anyway! Yes! As seen above, they are super cute with any kind of diaper.

    2. Awesome to know - thank you! Yes - cleaning with an HE washer is the pits and our plight as well. After fighting non-stop diaper stink with our 2nd born, Indigo, I thought I had sworn off cloth diapers for good. With our third daughter coming to us from Ethiopia, many families battled parasites, so I didn't even consider cloth with her. With Iris, our baby, 18 bamboo fitteds were gifted to us. What ended up working for me was to add a tbsp of bleach diluted in water to the wash and wash with Tide Free and Clear. With my other two, I only stuck with the granola options like vinegar and charlie's laundery soap. Anyway this method did work with us until she started solids. Then, after a mo of fighting diaper stink, I bid them adieu.

  6. Yay for a good first day at pre-school for Joe. Casper cried every time I left him for the first few weeks but he actually got used to it quicker than I expected. This year he was so excited going back, he was literally jumping up and down saying "can we go now?". As he has an October birthday he gets two whole years there. Loving Maggie in the BBBPs too. I love that pattern, got to make some soon as Rowan will be too big for them in a few months.

    1. Yeah, when the pattern was released, Joe was already at the top end of them size-wise, and the pattern didn't seem worth it. But I've loved seeing them all over the internet for the past couple years. I'm totally making up for lost (imaginary) pants here!

    1. Thank you! She is getting big. I'm so pleased to see her chubbing up, but I'm also just kind of bewildered at the passing time.
