Chicken scratch embroidery progress.

Some basic black athletic pants/leggings/shorts for my friend's son, who is starting ballet classes. Because boys deserve special dance clothes too! (One pair of Nature Walk Pants and a long and short pair of Playtime Leggings.)

A birthday dress for a friend's daughter, all cut out.

Maggie helping me pick buttons for the birthday dress (she has a good eye, even if she largely avoids clothing herself!).

See what I mean?

Messy Space

Messy sewing space and overflowing stash. (The piles on the floor are mostly knits. I need to do some stash busting!)

Gathering fabrics for another birthday dress, this one for my little redheaded niece who loves frilly things. I think this will be a Caroline Dress.

  1. What a lovely group of projects you've got going on! I'm so impressed with your productivity and I especially enjoyed seeing that embroidery project progress. And that last picture may be one of my favorites ever. The little built-in drawer/shelf you have for storage is so sweet- I love these touches in older houses. And thank you for making me feel like I'm not the only one with sewing projects and fabrics trying to take over my house!

    1. Thanks - my sewing space is just a corner of our dining room (and yes, that's a built-in china cabinet), so my mess is out for everyone to see! But it works for me - I can watch the kids or chat with my husband while I sew.

  2. Great button choices! Every time I see the Geranium Dress on your blog I want to buy that pattern but I really need to force myself to use what I have... pretty embroidery too!

    1. It is a great pattern - a really good basic. But by the same token, there are many similar patterns out there, it's such a classic style. That said, I finished the birthday Geranium on Sunday night (haven't had a chance to take a good photo in daylight), and it is SO CUTE. It might convert you. Just sayin'!

  3. You are so good about sewing for other people! I'm feeling like little miss greedy pants over here!
And yes, Maggie has fabulous taste in buttons :)

    1. If my kids were a little nicer about actually wearing what I make, I might be more "selfish" ...

  5. Maggie looks too cute and tiny squatting on the floor like that with the buttons!
